It was quite odd to arrive at a furniture showroom in a suburban street to drink fine champagne but the fine European pieces in Country Trader did this French-inspired soiree justice.
Champagne house Bollinger's new president Jerome Philipon had flown in for a week and was being introduced to select Sydneysiders.
Enjoying the Bollinger range of Special Cuvee, Rose and La Grande Annee 1999 served with matching canapés were racing A-listers Charlotte Inglis, John and Frances Ingham, Rob Hirst of importers Fine Wine Partners, fine wine retailers Andrew and Danette Kemeny and Sydney restaurant general managers including Nicky Johnston from Otto and Kylie Ball from Quay.
